On Frost-tipped Feathers! RB 2017...
I was so honored and stoked that the uber-talented, hard-working, brilliant cleflink snagged my art for the spn_reversebang ! She was such a delight to work with, asked for nudges, had so many great ideas, it was really inspiring. Seriously, this would make a fantastic graphic novel. Some daaaaay, maybe...

I couldn't decide if this should've been SPN or RPF, so I let cleflink decide, and she did absolutely the right thing. :D

Here's the original RB prompt:

And for curious folks (I'm looking at you, amberdreams!), a high-res unanimated final. (click to enlarge)

And 'interior' illustrations, pencil on paper, digitally tweaked.

Ahhhhhhh!! Having just read the story, the art is such a beautiful partner (or the other way around I suppose given the prompt). But also holy shit that prompt is gorgeous with the shading and gradient of blues. And then the sketches of the guys in their own solitude (oh Jared's breaks my heart as he holds his head) and then together, barren of most colors except for the red in Jensen's chest. Just all so so so amazing. I mean. I know YOU are amazing but then you always seem to outdo yourself <33333

I haven't read the finished product yet AND I CAN'T WAIT! So much thanks from both of us for being part of the team, lovely person!

It was fun to give ye olde pencils a go. I didn't wanna be photorealistic, and it's not as easy as it seems. With digital, you can fiddle until you get it spot on, but it can lose a lot of life. I wanted that handmade, old school look to the little inner illustrations. Now, I've just gotta work on putting backgrounds in. *cough*

You're waaaaay too kind. But thank you again! *smiiiish*

WE DID IT!! \o/

It's been such a delight to work with you, hon, and agh, I just love everything SO MUCH. Your work is always so ethereal and gorgeous, and it took some courage on my part to throw my hat in for your prompt, I'm not gonna lie. There was something so compelling in your prompt, I just couldn't pass it up (even though I clearly had too many ideas for what to write about it)! I also really appreciate you being so chill about my chronic lateness and unexpected health challenges. I'm sorry I was such a pain!

I love my dividers - simplistic yet complex, just like both of these lovely guys. I also really like the colour contrast between Jensen's warm tones and Jared's cool ones in all of the pieces, and the way it culminates in the final picture of them together. Poor Jared! The blood is stark and shocking in all the most wonderfully horrible ways.

Jensen and his ravens are so sweet; I love his little smile and his not-so little legs. The familiarity and affection is just beautiful. I already flailed about the curve of Jared's body in that position, but I'm going to do it again, because it is perfect. The hint of the bars behind him really enhances his fragile, yet somehow dangerous appearance. Also, those cheekbones are utterly devastating.

THEY'RE ALL AWESOME AND YOU'RE SUPER AWESOME AND I'M SO GLAD I GOT TO WORK WITH YOU!

Any day you want to do a graphic novel, you just drop me a line! :D

I can't believe people are still scared of me! I'M A HOT MESS MOST DAYS.

Any one of your ideas would've rocked like the dickens, no lie. And I was stoked as hell when you picked me! Your world-building is without compare. Again not lying. You were NOT a pain! Please. You were just the perfect author for this art, and I was lucky lucky lucky!

Thanks for being so flow and such a damned good writer, lady. AND DON'T EVEN TEASE ME ABOUT A GRAPHIC NOVEL.

Graphic novels are a helluva lot of work, especially to make all the characters look like themselves for multiple pages, and perspective, and design, and...I tried to do a little one with monicawoe and ended up giving up (it was ALL ME), but it still niggles at the back of my brain as something I wanna do. With your writing? And your world-building? Ur mah gurrrrd...

We should ponder this. We should!

So beautiful! I love the muted color palette; gives it such a somber feel!

Thank you! (It was a touch of laziness, I won't lie. But I didn't wanna belabor them too much. I like 'em as simple as they are!)

Stunning! Which is a seriously inadequate understatement, but, yeah.

This collaboration was wonderful - the art is truly amazing both beautiful and lush and spare and elegant. I loved the art, and the story it prompted. Great job to both of you - you should partner on more projects! I'd read every one.

Thank you, anon! *smooooch* There's vague talk of graphic novelling, but man, that shit's hard! But I never say never...

In a good way, I hope!

Eeee thank you for the high res version! I could really see all the frosty details and how you'd built up the trail of snowflakes/flakes of ice. Funny how we'd both done a prompt where Sam (or Jared)'s eyes were blank white. I love how your pencil drawings have the boys in a more exaggerated, angular style, and I may have become slightly fixated with Dean/Jensen's knee in the bird pic - which is my fave.

I had sooooo much fun with Jensen's bare leggies! Hell, bare feet in general. Feet are a pain, but I wanted to challenge myself to work with them.

I've been getting more interested in exaggerating drawing lately, in part because it's just more expressive. I mean, striving for realism is cool and all, but I feel like a lot of people do realism really, really well. But only I can do ME. So the challenge is to stylize my drawing but still remain believable and accurate.

So, I couldn't wait until after I've read the fic to take a peak at these because I knew they'd be divine and so I spoiled myself it was worth it!!!

I loved the original piece with the snowflake gif, and that icy white-eyed Jared/Sam, and beautiful portrait of Jensen/Dean - and what a wonderful art/writer collab partnership, I can't wait to get stuck into Cleflinks fic!!!!

And then you treat us with beautiful hand drawn sketch of each character, and they're just beautiful!!! You've captured so much detail, and I espcially the birds and Jared's pose. The blood-red in the last one just stands out so much in a perfectly horrific way.

Thank you for sharing your work - it's beautiful. Take care :)

Beautiful! Have to read the story since you did the art!

It's such a sweet story...I'm not all the way through it yet--we both worked up until the 11th hour--but that's making it all the more fun for me now!

Oh that is gorgeous animated or not. I love all the silvery details. Definintely captured the feeling of the story beautifully.
And crows are my absolute favorite (along with foxes) and they are such characters in this story.
Well done! And I also just realized the significance of the stars now that I'm finished the story. Heh! Lovely detail.

Cleflink took all the disparate pieces of the art and smashed them together, AND MADE SENSE! Beautiful sense. :) We both thank you!

Awesome, just finished reading the story and I love seeing this collaboration and the sketches of them both alone and then you almost don't even register the color shift until the last one! Or anyway I'm visually dense, so I don't, lol. Fantastic work!

I just finished the beautiful story your gorgeous art inspired! Thank you for this fantastic prompt and all the extras!
Is it okay to use the prompt as screensaver on my small tablet?
