A push in the right direction, gang!
Y'all have opinions; I NEED THEM. I've got several tempting ideas for my Gen Big Bang but I just don't know what to settle upon! I could use a nudge...

HALP! What should I write for the SPN Gen Big Bang?

sumthin' Wild West, pardner (specify AU or time-travel, please!)

Case!fic, a Civil War ghost story

I have this damned cancer!Sam fic that won't leave me be...so, h/c meets case!fic? Yeah.

All comments and any other suggestions gleefully welcomed! I'm cheap and easy.

Cancer!Sam as long you don't kill him tho!! xD

No death!fic; fear not! Thanks for the input. :D

I'd be for a time-travel western thing. I read a little short thing long ago in which Sam and Dean get stuck in the old west, and have always wished for something longer. Frontierland didn't satisfy the itch.

That said, you know how much I liked "War is Never Cheap," so it goes without saying I'd like more of that one, too. I think that premise is worth a much longer treatment.
The indefatigable Mrs. Griffinquickreaver on June 10th, 2012 01:58 am (UTC)
Honestly, those are the two options I'm leaning hardest towards. So you'd rather them time-travel to the Wild West than having always been there? Interesting! That's very helpful!

Snicksnickfic on June 10th, 2012 02:04 am (UTC)
Well, I have a bias against SPN fics in wildly non-canon settings. Like, Sam and Dean in a world that recognizably splits off from canon in some specific way, I like fine. But Winchesters in Space, for example, does nothing for me.

So as far as I'm concerned, I will always opt for time travel over AU. :)

*thumbs up!*

I voted for more of War is Never Cheap, Dear. I am so in love with that concept and those characters.
The indefatigable Mrs. Griffinquickreaver on June 10th, 2012 02:01 am (UTC)
It's SUCH a ripe concept, yeah! And I'm kinda digging the whole "Canon? Shmanon!" idea. I also like that the original fic felt like the middle of something so I can build off both ends. Hmmm...

Thanks for the input, bb!

I am all over you writing h/c, jesus. Do it!
The indefatigable Mrs. Griffinquickreaver on June 10th, 2012 02:05 am (UTC)
If it doesn't happen for this go'round, it WILL happen because it will not go away.

The "War is Never Cheap, Dear" AU is epic, so I'd love it if you continued that- AND I still say it has a real wild west vibe to it anyway, however you could also do an actual wild west AU. Of course if you combine the two ideas you can send your "War is Never Cheap, Dear" characters back to the wild west via time travel (for Samuel Colt, or any other reason of your choosing).

Awesome whichever route you go.

The indefatigable Mrs. Griffinquickreaver on June 10th, 2012 02:08 am (UTC)
Hmm! I wonder if I could pull that off. I'll have to think on that! I'm afraid it might make it a little busy for me. Regardless, you're absolutely right; "War" has a very Wild West feel to it, and that won't change!

Much to think about! Thanks, dahlink!

Wild West AUs FTW! There are never enough. Ever.

These all sound really good! I love the idea of Wild West time travel fic, and can never get enough curtainfic, especially if there's a case, too. (Gen curtainfic is my faaaaavorite.)

Cool! Thanks bunches for stopping by and giving me your two cents! It's worth far more than that, believe me...

West-ERN! West-ERN!

(I mean come on, the art ALONE.)

*drool*
The indefatigable Mrs. Griffinquickreaver on June 10th, 2012 06:43 am (UTC)
AU or time travel? (Yeah, gotta agree; this would be hella fun from an artist's standpoint and that's certainly another point to consider!)

:D I know, right? (Thanks for voting! The outcome was NOT what I was anticipating and that's kinda exciting!)

I voted for two things - Wild West (AU or TT, both are good) and Cancer!Sam. I have a weakness for illness!boys.

I couldn't resist making an icon of Jared and his precious son.

I can't wait to see what you decide on. I'm there no matter what.

I voted for two, which is naughty, but I think I showed great restraint in not voting for them all. There's seriously no way you could go wrong with any of these.
The indefatigable Mrs. Griffinquickreaver on June 11th, 2012 08:29 pm (UTC)
*LOL!* I didn't think to request folks to vote only once, but that worked out for the better. I'm really surprised by the outcome, honestly! It's making me excited to start brainstorming and outlining, though. One frontrunner is definitely more artist-friendly than the other, and that's something to consider too. Thanks for the feedback!
